Workshops & Guest Speaking

​We provide workshops, guest speaking, and office/lab training for organizations looking to boost their in-house research and data analysis know-how. We do this by crafting a talk or workshop to each organization’s specific needs. Whether it’s training a team of social media marketers to get the ins and outs of A/B testing or showing social workers how to approach research statistics in their cases, we put it all in plain English. Our goal is to make statistics and research as simple as possible to understand and work with, even for those who have no statistical background whatsoever.  Workshops have included things such as: 

1) A/B testing in the real world. A focused approach on how companies and non-profits can implement best practices in their A/B testing. This is a more relatively advanced workshop designed to boost how statistics and research can be used in practice. 

2) Stats for the rest of us. To broadly teach basic concepts of statistics and research, such as “significance”, “confidence”, “sampling error” — all specifically crafted to be laser-focused on bringing your team up to speed.  And always, communicated in plain English. 

3) Pro survey design. In a previous blog post, I introduced some important topics that anyone can use when to create better surveys. For larger teams that have multiple teams that often need to collect data though, we also offer a crash-course on how to create rock-star surveys. In this workshop, we’ll cover all the basics such as how to write questions, getting the most powerful data, sampling, and structure. We’ll also talk about incorporating the technical judgement and decision-making factors that allow your survey to stand up to world-class behavioral psychologists. 

4) Special data analysis topics. No surprises here; statistics and research are our bread and butter. We’ll come prepared to train your teams on how to tackle the toughest data problems – whether it’s hierarchical linear modeling, pathway analyses, multivariate analyses, prediction, or any other statistical method under the sun.
